Breadcrumb POS Review
Welcome to my Breadcrumb POS review!
I have personally used this system in my family's restaurant along with several of Upserve's competitors.
Is Breadcrumb POS the best choice that will streamline your restaurant operation with state-of-the-art capabilities?
Read below to find out as I take a deep-dive into this POS system and provide insights from my personal experience.
Overview
Breadcrumb POS has surprised us with its multiple abilities, from a smooth ringing up of menu items to flawless inventory management. The touchscreen interface is versatile and ready to deploy in whatever situation the restaurant may be in.
Breadcrumb excels at handling POS system necessities such as splitting checks, issuing gift cards, and EMV integration.

Staff
Items and prices are clearly marked on the touchscreen so that servers can navigate the display screen with ease. Tableside ordering and tableside payment cuts drink and food delivery times for your customers by half, moving customers quickly and delivering exceptional service. You can increase your tips by decreasing the amount of time customers wait for their checks. The tableside payment feature enables employees to spend more time on the floor making more sales.
Breadcrumb POS has no issues with split checks or online ordering. Your restaurant won’t deter any potential customers due to accessibility.
Though the POS system is intuitive to use, the training mode is a great resource to have when training your wait staff. You can ring up items and swipe credit cards in training mode, allowing staff to get used to the sale system. In training mode, cards won’t process, but your staff will be able to get plenty of practice without disrupting your reporting.
Breadcrumb POS has the tools you need to keep track of your servers as well. Whether you need to keep an eye on performance or scheduling, you can use server performance and evaluation trackers in an easy to check location. You’ll be better able to respond to staff training and rewarding when needed, instead of letting problems grow. You'll also be able to see who your top-selling servers are.
Reporting and Management Tools
Breadcrumb POS is backed up by Upserve. There are tons of restaurant management platform tools to help you run your restaurant or restaurants even more efficiently and data driven.
Table management is a basic feature of restaurant POS systems, where you can group tables together into different zones for easy to understand assignments for servers.
As for back end system features, you'll have access to reports that will keep you updated on business performance and worker performance.

One of the awesome features about Upserve’s inventory management system is that it works in real time. No more guessing about what you have and what you don’t, or spending time counting. Real time deductions from your inventory are made as soon as orders go through, and if your inventory drops to low levels, reordering is as simple as one click.
Reports will also inform you about your menu to see what is selling and what is sitting on the shelf. The menu can be broken into different categories so that staff can push more profitable items.
Upserve's reputation management system is incredibly helpful. You can keep track of how your restaurant is rated on social media. Instead of spending hours going through different review sites, you'll be able to find them all in one place and address any glaring issues. You can even keep tabs on your cross-town rivals to see if there is an opportunity for expansion.
The Breadcrumb menu system gathers real-time sales data. If your location has sold out of an item, it will cancel the item out of the server’s menu. No more awkward situations or delays for your servers and patrons. Instead, you will be able to provide better, more efficient service and have more satisfied customers who are more likely to come back.
Breadcrumb’s offline capabilities means that your business doesn’t have to screech to a halt just because of connectivity issues. Your sales will be saved and processed once the internet connection is strong again.
Hardware
Just because this system is affordable doesn’t mean you'll sacrifice on hardware accessibility.
Breadcrumb from Upserve is optimized to run on iPads and can only run on iPad 8.0 or later. The good news is that since the system is cloud integrated, you can access all of your data and reporting through any device with internet access.
iPad usage means that the overall system is cheap to install and easy to train your servers on. It also allows for huge flexibility in deployment. You can add register stations anywhere you see fit, or bring it with you if you move your services to a new location.
Though it is possible to download the Breadcrumb app from the app store, we do recommend going through Upserve. When you get your iPads through Upserve, they come with all the necessary installations and support that you might need.
Breadcrumb can also seamlessly integrate with Upserve’s EMV card readers. These solutions are quick and easy to set-up and use. Epson printers are compatible with this POS software.
Additional Features
Breadcrumb POS is one of the best POS systems for loyalty and rewards programs. Customers can link their payment cards to your loyalty program, enticing them to become repeat guests, and driving more business.
Breadcrumb has integration for Upserve’s online ordering system. Since it’s integrated, the system can implement any rewards programs or loyalty cards your business might offer. You'll also be in charge of what you offer online.
You'll have the ability to toggle between Server and Quickserve functions. You don’t need the same ordering capabilities at the counter as you would at the table, so Breadcrumb doesn’t make you choose. You'll have access to both and can select what you need.
